The Guy’s Guide to Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day

As I’m sure most of you guys already (hopefully) know, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and pretty soon you’re going to have to get up off the couch, brave the outside world, and get your significant other a little something. I know it sounds like a lot to ask for, but I assure you, with some additional effort on your part, this year, you’re sure to not only make your person happy, but to also better your relationship overall.

However, since every relationship out there is different and has its own nuances and quirks, it’s hard to provide step-by-step instructions on how to make the most of Valentine’s Day. So, rather than simply telling you what to do, here are a few things to keep in mind as you plan your romantic evening with your boo.

Don’t Blow it Off

The male population as a whole is known to be somewhat forgetful from time to time. Any other day of the year, it wouldn’t be a big deal to be a bit of a space cadet. But, on Valentine’s Day, you’d better be on point and ready to wow your better half.

Prior to the big day, set as many reminders for yourself as you humanly can. Take notes in your phone as you come up with ideas of what to do and what to get for that special someone, and most importantly, don’t forget! Seriously, don‘t. You will regret it.

Don’t Overdo It

When it comes to overdoing it, there’s a really fine line between what it is and isn’t acceptable. You don’t want to skimp on the festivities and look like a chump, but you also don’t want to dump your month’s income into one evening and end up missing rent.

They’re hard waters to traverse, but, when in doubt, don’t be afraid to communicate. You don’t want to be the super villain giving away your top-secret plan all willy nilly, but opening up some dialogue about what your lady love wants on V-Day can go a long way.

Be Heartfelt

Lastly, no matter what you end up doing, be heartfelt and be purposeful. Valentine’s Day can get kind of tired after a while, but, at the end of the day, it’s just another opportunity to show someone that you care. And, in all reality, you really don’t have that many chances in life to do that. Life is short, so, love hard while you can and make this year’s V-Day one to remember.
